Family and friends are the best!

A day with family and friends is a really great way to spend the day. It started out to be a pretty uneventful day (as can be seen in my last post) and turned out to be a day full of fun and activities. I stitched most of my morning away making a great dent in Home Sweet Home. When my daughter got up she found out that the museum was open today and it was free to get in, so, we spent a couple of hours there. My parents invited us for a yummy salmon supper. Then I came back here to watch a movie with my daughter and her boyfriend, while my boyfriend took his daughter to see Ice Age 3 (which they loved). We watched Resident Evil.

I tried to take a picture of Home Sweet Home, but they turned out really blurry. I have a cheap camera and it seems that it can't distinguish between the light colours in the design and the fabric. I really need to invest in a decent camera.

Jenna asked me if I used the recommended thread and fabric for Fill with Love. I ordered the thread kit from Victoria Sampler, so, I definitely used the recommended threads. As for the fabric, it was just something I had laying around. I don't even remember what colour it was, but I really doubt it was the same one they used.

I'm off to bed now...good night everyone!

Happy Canada Day!

Happy Canada Day!!!
My day off has started by getting up early (around 6:15am) and posting on my blog. It is supposed to rain today, so, I doubt we'll be partaking in any of the local festivities. So, instead I'm going to check out some of your blogs and then I'm going to stitch, stitch, stitch the day away! Sounds like a perfect relaxing day off to me.
Happy Canada Day to all of my Canadian friends. :o)

Husqvarna

I would like you to meet the latest addition to my stitiching family, Husqvarna Emerald 183.
It is so easy to use! I bought it at a local quilting store, and they let me play with it for a bit and gave me a discount because it was the display unit. The store has free owners classes where you can come in and learn how to use the machine. They also have quilting classes 2 nights a week that are $10/class. The owner also services the machines. A lot can be said for in store service these days! They also said that they would take it back in trade if I decided I wanted something more advanced. By the time we left, my mom was asking for a brochure on this machine as well haha. I wouldn't be surprised if she bought one too! I'm so excited about my new sewing machine! Now to learn to sew hehe.

My new project

I've made a very small start on my next project, Little House Needleworks Home Sweet Home.
There is no point in showing a picture just yet, but once I get a little more done, I'll be sure to post one.

There hasn't been much stitching time this week. I managed to pick up a bit of overtime last night, which meant a 16 hour shift for me. And than back for another 9 hr shift today. I can't wait for the weekend!

Speaking of the weekend, my mom and I are going shopping for a sewing machine on Friday (hopefully). I have no idea what I need or want. I really am a sewing novice and need a bit of guidance.

Well, that's all for now!

Happy Wednesday!

Another wee finish

This is an ornament I started this past Christmas. I finished it a few weeks ago, but never posted a pic. It is from JCS 2008 Christmas magazine. The design is by Cathey Jean from Victoria Sampler.

Dancing a jig

Winter Silhouette is finished!

Winter Silhouette is a design by Diane Arthurs for Imaginating. I used Viki Clayton's natural silk thread on 32 count Blue Spruce or Amsterdam Blue linen (I'm not sure which one it is). Eventually, I'm going to make it into a long thin pillow.

I have nothing else started right now so, I need to search through my stash for a new project. I haven't looked in my stash for so long, I'm not sure what I'll decide on. I'm thinking about doing a larger piece this time, but undecided at this point. Time to have some fun searching!

Happy Stitching!

It's Monday already!?!? The weekend flew by, but I did manage to accomplish something.

On Saturday I took my son shopping. He's going to be working at a summer camp this summer so I wanted to make sure he had enough clothes to get him by week by week. He did very well and he's almost ready to go.

Yesterday, I got up early and started cooking. I made a huge batch of rice. My mom makes this and freezes it, so, I thought I'd give it a try. It turned out really well and I have some nice dinners already prepared. After I finished the rice I made potato salad and then went on to cook delicious mollasses cupcakes. YUM!

As for stitching yesterday.... I did absolutely none. Not even a single stitch. I'm off today, so hopefully I can get some stitching done today!

A jumbled mess of things

It's finally Friday! I can breathe now.... :o) I've had one of those weeks where Friday just couldn't come soon enough.

My daughter has been counting down the days until her boyfriend arrived from Alberta. He lives with his family there and flew here for to stay with her for the summer. Today is the day he finally arrived! Also, I should mention that he has officially graduated from high school as of yesterday! He was home schooled and actually finished school a year and a half early, but didn't write the final exam for his official diploma until this year. So, congratulations!!!

So, I'm sure many of you will be watching the big hockey game tonight. Or, many of your husbands/boyfriends will be watching it... ;o) I'll be watching it too. Well, I'll be stitching while my bfd watches. ;o) Go Penguins!! (he told me to say that haha)

What else can I say? Hmmm... it's been a pretty rough week at work. Today was totally insane. I have been taking a course for 4hrs each morning, so, I've missed out on most of the crazyness. I work for an ISP, and when it rains it's just nuts! It rained today... it rained hard! Always a good time. :o)

On a stitching note, I have been stitching a little bit here and there on Winter Silhouette. I didn't want to post a picture until the right side was finished, but I'm still not done and a picture is long overdue. I am very close though!

I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend!
